Premiere: A Place in the Band Interview with Laurie Lewis

Grammy Award-winning musician Laurie Lewis is internationally renowned as a singer, songwriter, fiddler, bandleader, producer and educator. She was a founding member of the Good Ol’ Persons and the Grant Street String Band and has performed and recorded since 1986 with her musical partner, mandolinist Tom Rozum.

Laurie has twice been voted “Female Vocalist of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association and has won the respect and admiration of her peers.

The full video episode and a video preview will premiere at 2 pm, Tuesday, January 19.

This discussion series is part of a project by the Blue Ridge Music Center that began in 2020, honoring the one hundredth anniversary of women being granted the right to vote.

North Carolina singer-songwriter Laurelyn Dossett speaks with female musicians, and women involved in music management and promotion, to share their stories, talk about their experiences, and express their hopes for the future.

Their individual stories highlight the collective strength and future possibilities for women in bluegrass and American roots music.
