Eddie Bond & the New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters
Music and book reading from 4 Season in the Blue RidgeÂ
Saturday, September 6
12-3 p.m. | Covered Breezeway at Blue Ridge Music Center
Admission Free
Join us as author Eddie Bond reads excerpts from his book 4 Season in the Blue Ridge, tells stories of his Appalachian upbringing, and saws tunes on the fiddle. He will be joined by his band, the New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters.
Eddie grew up in a family of musicians in the Grayson County mill town of Fries. A tiny town of 600 residents, Fries has a strikingly rich musical tradition, producing such musical luminaries as Henry Whitter, Ernest Stoneman, among others. Eddie is one of the premier fiddlers in Grayson County, where he plays with the New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters and teaches Appalachian String Band Music to high school students. Eddie received the National Heritage Fellow award in 2018.
4 Seasons in the Blue Ridge, by E.D. (Eddie) Bond, invites you back to a time when life was simple and the community was strong. The story reflects on culture, folkways, and the spirit of the Appalachian people.
You can pre-purchase the book for him to sign. He will also have a limited number of copies on hand for purchase.
