Midday Mountain Music with Gen 3 (Bill & Maggie Anderson, Jody & Kayla King)

12-3 p.m. | Covered Breezeway at Blue Ridge Music Center
Admission Free
Bill and Maggie Anderson are returning this year with a full band sound. They’ve added Jody and Kayla King to the mix, and since they represent three generations, they call themselves Gen 3. They will be sharing Americana music, old bluegrass, traditional, folk, and story songs. This is a sweet coming together of three generations, Bill and Maggie on guitar, dobro and vocals, and Kayla and Jody on bass, banjo, and mandolin.
Jody has been playing bluegrass since he was a teen, starting professionally playing banjo with Lost and Found. He has since been a member of a number of storied bluegrass groups such as Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time, Darin and Brooke Aldridge Band, and Melonie Cannon and Tennessee Road. He’s been honored to be able to appear several times on the Grand Ol’ Opry and at the Ryman Auditorium.
Jody’s daughter, Kayla, plays bass. She has performed on the road with her father playing with Johnny and Jeanette Williams and other well known groups.
Bill, on guitar, and Maggie, on dobro, will continue to share the old bluegrass, traditional and Americana songs they have enjoyed playing through the years at the Music Center. They’ll also continue telling the stories behind the songs, but now they will also be accompanied by great banjo and bass with some new songs in the mix from Kayla and Jody.
In addition to being great musicians, Bill and Jody are also accomplished luthiers. Jody builds guitars, dobros, and a special banjo he designed that can be taken apart for easy storage in a carry on bag for air travel! Bill has been making guitars for years and is an authorized Martin Warranty repairman. He also made Maggie’s dobro.
